Black History Month event to talk about Black innovators, inventors, icons

Waterloo Region students are being offered the chance to take part in a special Black History Month event that aims to talk about Black innovators, inventors and icons.
The Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region has partnered up with BrainSTEM Alliance and the Canadian Multicultural Inventors Museum for a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) Day presentation on March 7.
Starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m., this virtual interactive event will be hosted by D’Andre Wilson-Ihejirika, President of BrainSTEM and Francis Jeffers, Founder of the Canadian Multicultural Inventors Museum.
During the three two-hour sessions, one for elementary, middle and secondary school students, participants will not only learn about important Black individuals but also take part in S.T.E.M. activities that are designed to engage interest in those fields.
Free science kits have already been handed out to students who have registered and they will be guided by the facilitators in how to carry out experiments and demonstrations.
