Regional Police say they've charged a 27-year-old Hamilton man in connection to a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle and a Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services ambulance in late December.
Police say the incident occurred on December 28 shortly before 9:00 p.m in the area of King Street East at Fairview Avenue in Kitchener. The ambulance was traveling west on its way to the hospital with a patient on board when it was struck by a vehicle travelling east.
The collision caused damage along the driver's side of both vehicles, as well as non-life-threatening injuries for the paramedic driving the ambulance. That paramedic was taken to hospital in a second ambulance.
The paramedic in the back of the vehicle, along with the patient on board were not injured.
The involved ambulance stopped following the collision, though the other vehicle failed to remain and was last seen travelling eastward toward Ottawa Street.
On December 29, members of Regional Police's Central Patrol and Traffic Service's Unit were able to locate the suspected motor vehicle involved in the collision.
On February 12, Regional Police Service's Traffic Services Unit arrested and charged a 27-year-old Hamilton man in connection to the incident with Dangerous Operation, Fail to Stop after Accident and Obstruct Police.
