THEMUSEUM’s ‘Reverberation’ exhibit aims to open the region’s vault of musical memories

Meant as an off-site companion piece to the upcoming ‘Unzipped’ Rolling Stones exhibit, making its Canadian debut in the Fall, THEMUSEUM has announced its latest upcoming project – aiming to celebrate the ‘rich musical history of Waterloo Region’. Entitled REVERBERATIONS: Our Rock & Soul Legacy, the exhibit is meant to be a collection of exciting musical moments from across the Region, and THEMUSEUM CEO David Marskell said he’s already begun to receive submissions from across the tri-cities.

Speaking as a guest on the Mike Farwell Show on 570 NEWS, Marskell said he believes a project that spotlights the region’s deep rock and soul roots is the beginning of something that should have a permanent home in the community. Former radio producer and writer Mike Tennant alongside curator Virginia Eichhorn, THEMUSEUM will be interviewing local community members for their stories on their formative musical memories, collecting artifacts like ticket stubs, concert posters, tour merchandise and more.

“It’s more about the ‘holy cow’ moments – what do you recall when you heard the Guess Who’s ‘American Woman’ riff was created here in Kitchener, or that moment when you saw someone on stage, got an autograph or you went to The Aud for a concert and saw your favourite band,” said Marskell. “Those are the types of things we want to bring out in our community.”
