Christmas tree now up in Waterloo Public Square (update)

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The Christmas spirit has arrived in Uptown Waterloo.

The City says the “Holiday Tree” arrived at Waterloo Public Square at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

It's a blue spruce, donated by Cook Homes and Erbsville Court Development.

Another large Christmas tree was also transported to Cambridge City Hall on Tuesday.

Staff say it will be decorated over the next few days.

The City of Kitchener says, due to construciton, there won't be a tree in Carl Zehr Square this year.

However, staff note a number of other holiday initiatives will take place across that city including, four five-foot trees in planters placed along Gaukel Street.

An indoor holiday tree has also been set up at the Kitchener Market.
