Overnight closure on Highway 401 through Milton this weekend (update)

**The highway was reopened at 10 a.m. on Sunday.**
The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed a major closure on Highway 401 will occur this weekend.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes will be closed between James Snow Parkway and Trafalgar Road.
The closure is set to take effect Saturday at 11 p.m.
The 401 isn’t scheduled to reopen in that stretch until Sunday at 10 a.m.
Detours will be posted in the area.
“Paid duty officers will be on site at every major intersection within detour routes to ensure safety and control traffic as required,” said a MTO spokesperson in an email statement.
The full shutdown is required as part of the ongoing 401 expansion project from Credit River in Mississauga to Highway 25 in Milton.
