Local nursery won’t reopen to walk-in customers, despite provincial announcement

Ontario has announced garden centres and nurseries will be allowed to fully open on Friday, as long as they follow physical distancing procedures already in place in grocery stores.
However, one local nursery said it does not meet that criteria.
Belgian Nursery Limited is located just outside of Kitchener, at 2615 Victoria Street in Breslau.
It announced on Wednesday that it will remain closed to walk-in customers for the 2020 planting season.
“We have not come to this decision lightly, but for the safety of our staff and customers we will not be able to accommodate walk-in traffic this spring season,” said Belgian Nursery on social media. “We are unable to guarantee the physical distancing and sanitization measures that would be required to welcome customers back into our store at this time, and this has been a key factor in our decision.”
It noted most of its plants and products can be purchased online and picked up through its curbside pickup program.
