Municipal playgrounds, skate parks now closed

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

With community centres, pools, and all other recreation facilities shut down, it was only a matter of time before this call was made too.

Municipal playgrounds and skate parks through the region will be closing effectively immediately.

They will stay shut down until further notice.

While the need for social distancing remains high, you are still encouraged to get outside, and a reminder, all local parks and trails remain open.

The CAO of Waterloo Region says there are three reasons the move has been made.

Mike Murray told a media conference Friday, we need to keep practising social distancing, staff can't effectively clean and disinfect the equipment, with the third reason being that we need to be extra cautious.
