Kitchener athlete wins gold at beach volleyball worlds

Kitchener native and beach volleyball athlete, Sarah Pavan, has won Canada its first gold medal at the beach volleyball world championships in Germany.
Pavan and her partner Melissa Humana-Paredes, ranked sixth worldwide, beat American players April Ross and Alexandra Klineman, ranked fifth, for gold on Saturday morning.
With this win, the Canadian team has secured a spot in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
By coming in first, Pavan and Humana-Paredes also beat a previous best when they finished in fourth place for Canada in 2017
