Freezing rain warning lifted (update)

By Mark Pare

***The freezing rain warning was lifted Thursday morning***

Environment Canada has ended a special weather statement for Waterloo Region, but a freezing rain warning is now in effect.

They say the freezing rain will start as snow late Wednesday morning, before changing over in the afternoon.

That will persist and change to rainfall or drizzle in the evening, depending on the temperature.

This is all coming from a low pressure system from the Southern Plains moving toward the Great Lakes.

The national weather authority says motorists should allow for extra time on their commute, with surfaces such as highways, roadways, and walkways expected to be slippery.
