TORONTO – Sean Penn will be honoured with a peace and justice award at Paul Haggis’s annual benefit in support of Haiti in Toronto next month.
The Bovet 1822 Artists for Peace and Justice 2016 Festival Fair is scheduled for Sept. 11, during the Toronto International Film Festival.
Haggis will host along with Maria Bello and George Stroumboulopoulos, among others.
This is the eighth-annual benefit for Haggis’s non-profit organization, which encourages peace and social justice and addresses issues of poverty around the world.
Its immediate focus is the poorest communities in Haiti, where Penn has done post-earthquake humanitarian work and established a relief organization.
