Rendon strikes out seven, extends win streak to five

It was another full night of hits for the Kitchener Panthers.

They managed to string together eleven, and scored ten runs for a 10-4 win, Friday night against the Red Sox in Brantford.

The power came alive right in the first inning, when Mike Gordner went deep for his fourth home run of the year. Kitchener managed to cash in four runs to take an early, 4-1 lead.

The Red Sox would string together two hits in the fifth inning, which scored two runs and brought them within one.

That would be as close as they would come to the Panthers.

Kitchener scored three runs in the seventh, two runs in the eighth and one more in the ninth to secure the victory.

They took advantage of three Red Sox errors.

Mike Andrulis went 2-for-4 with three RBI’s while Sean Reilly tacked on an RBI to add to his league leading, 49.

Ian Rendon went six strong innings, giving up three earned runs, six hits and striking out seven. He is now tied for second in wins with six.

The Panthers now lead the IBL by 2.5 games. Up next, the Panthers will entertain the Burlington Bandits Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. at Jack Couch Park in Kitchener.
