Hundreds gather in KW for candlelight vigil to remember victims of terror attacks

Hundreds gathered in downtown Kitchener Sunday night for a candlelight vigil in support of victims of terror attacks.
Many local dignitaries spoke including Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic, Waterloo Mayor Dave Jaworsky, Kitchener Centre MPP Daiene Vernile, Waterloo MP Bardish Chagger, and Waterloo Regional Police Chief Bryan Larkin.
Deputy Mayor of Paris, Patrick Klugman also had a recorded message for all those attending thanking everyone for their support.
There were also several performances including songs by KW Glee and The Grand Philharmonic Choir
After the event had wrapped up, candles were left in front of city hall, and a crowd began to sing for the victims of terrorist attacks in Paris.
570’s Christine Clark spoke with many of those in attendance including several students from France who are attending Wilfrid Laurier University.
They say the support has been “overwhelming.” They add everyone in their families are ok and fortunately are not in Paris.
