Waterloo named age-friendly city

The World Health Organization’s Global Network of Age-friendly Cities has a new member: Waterloo.

The city was graded on a number of factors from its outdoor spaces and buildings to transportation, housing and social participation.

Mayor Brenda Halloran calls it “a great honour” and says “We are dedicated to ensuring this city is inclusive and accessible for our older residents, while also promoting active ageing. This designation reflects the ongoing work we undertake to achieve this goal.”

Beyond the recognition, this designation also gives Waterloo access to a global network of aging experts as well as links it to cities that are on the same wave length.
