Drunk driver charged in serious motorcycle crash

Waterloo regional police have laid impaired driving charges after a motorcycle crash in Cambridge.

Wednesday evening around 6:50 p.m., police were called to the crash in the Water Street North and Ainslie Street North area.

A motorcycle with a driver and passenger had reportedly lost control near the split at Ainslie and Water.

“The motorcycle, carrying two occupants, was travelling at a high rate of speed and in an erratic manner,” reads a release from police.

“Both occupants sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital.”

The 49-year-old motorcyclist is facing numerous charges, including operation while over blood alcohol level of 80 mg% and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

The investigation is ongoing, with police asking anyone with information to come forward.
