Machete wielding Kitchener man arrested on Valentines Day

It wasn’t cupid with an arrow, it was a man with a machete.

Waterloo Regional Police say they received reports of a man brandishing a machete in Kitchener near Victoria Street North and Weber Street West around noon on Fe. 14.

When police arrived they were able to locate the man a short distance away, and placed him under arrest without incident.

The 58-year-old man from Kitchener now faces two charges, one for uttering threats to cause death and another for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

No injuries were reported from the incident, and the accused is being held for a bail hearing.
