Person of interest to identify in Kitchener sexual assault

Waterloo regional police are investigating two unrelated sexual assaults in Kitchener.

Police were contacted on Monday evening around 8:30 p.m. by the victim, who said she was walking in the Boniface Avenue and Massey Avenue area when she was assaulted by a male suspect.

It happened in the Wilson Park neighbourhood of Kitchener.

No physical injuries were reported.

Police are actively working to identify the suspect.

On Sept. 30, officials said they are looking to identify a person of interest in connection to the case. They released a video on social media showing a male walking in the area.

Police responded to a separate incident that happened the same night.

Around 10 p.m., police were called to downtown Kitchener on reports of a sexual assault near King and Duke streets.

Police say a female youth said she was assaulted by a male suspect, but suffered no physical injuries.

Officers arrived and arrested a 60-year-old Kitchener man.

The man was charged with sexual assault and criminal harassment. He was held pending a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Major Crime Unit.
