Aunt raises money for Cambridge niece after devastating fire

A family in Cambridge is getting some help from the community after reportedly losing everything in a fire.

According to a GoFundMe created by Liz Riordon, the aunt of the woman who’s family was affected by the fire, it happened on Saturday while the family was away at the Cambridge Multicultural Festival at Forbes Park.

Riordon wrote that the main floor of the family’s home “appears to be a total loss and they will be without a home for the near future.”

She added, “While (her niece) and her family looked on in panic, the Hespeler community really showed up to support.”

Riordon said she started the GoFundMe account to help her niece, Jennifer Gillett, rebuild her family’s life.
