Waterloo Region breaks almost century-old weather record

By Erin Anderson

Those who were out and about early Monday morning likely had to bundle up as the temperature dipped near the freezing mark.

The cold conditions weren’t just unseasonal, they were also record-breaking.

Rob Kuhn with Environment Canada says a low of 0.1 C was recorded in Waterloo Region around 6 a.m.

The minimum temperature beats the old record low for June 2, which was 1.1 C.

The previous record was set almost 100 years ago in 1927.

It’ll be a stark contrast compared to the next two days as we’re expecting heat and humidity for Tuesday and Wednesday.
