It’s a dream come true for a young quarterback from London, Ont.
Former Laurier Golden Hawk star quarterback Taylor Elgersma has made Canadian football history after signing a rookie contract with the Green Bay Packers.
The 23-year-old is just the fourth quarterback from a Canadian university to sign a pro deal with an NFL franchise, and the first since the 1980s.
Elgersma went undrafted in the NFL draft, but was selected in the second round by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL draft in April.
In his senior season in Waterloo Region, Elgersma threw for more-than 4,000 yards and had 34 passing TDs.
Elgersma will fight for his spot as the third QB on the Green Bay roster as Jordan Love and Malik Willis are cemented as the number one and two options respectively.
