Police investigate serious single-vehicle collision in Kitchener

Waterloo regional police is investigating a single-vehicle collision that left the driver with serious injuries.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a Hyundai sedan on Ottawa Street South near Strasburg Road.

Police concluded that the Hyundai left the roadway, striking a hydro pole, fence and a structure in the backyard of a nearby home.

The driver, a 26-year-old male from Kitchener, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an out of region hospital. A 29-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries.

A section of Ottawa Street South was closed Saturday for the investigation and hydro repairs. The road has since reopened.

As the investigation continues, police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to contact 519-570-9777. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
