Kitchener Rangers shut out by red-hot goalie in Flint; forcing Game 5

The Kitchener Rangers were stonewalled by a hot goalie in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series against the Flint Firebirds, as the underdogs forced their way into the series with a 2-0 win in Michigan on Tuesday.

The Rangers outshot the Firebirds 38-32 in the losing effort, but it was a star performance from Flint goalie Nathan Day that gave the home team the edge.

After scoring 10 goals in the first two games of the series, the Rangers’ in-form offense came up short and will have to regroup before Game 4 at Dort Financial Center in Flint on Thursday.

“There’s no time for sulking or feeling sorry for yourself,” said 570’s Colour Commentator Paul Fixter. “You pick yourself up, dust yourself off, get the ice on the bruises, and be ready to play Game 4. Rangers are still in control of the series, they just have to go out and get the job done in Game 4.”

The good news for Rangers fans: Game 5 is set to be played at The Aud on Friday, where the Rangers can close out the series if they also win on Thursday.
