Community rallies for 6-year-old who lost her battle with cancer

Within less than a day, the Kitchener community quickly rallied around a family who lost their six-year-old daughter to cancer.

A fundraiser posted Monday morning says the family is needing the funds to help with funeral costs, saying “the financial burden associated with these expenses is significant.”

Amariah was known for being a “source of joy” and having an “infectious smile,” the GoFundMe reads. She was battling Lymphoma, a cancer in the lymphatic system, which takes part in the body’s immune response.

The little girl was an “energetic personality” who brought joy to all those who interacted with her.

“She was passionate about singing and dancing and she filled any room she entered with love and laughter,” the fundraiser reads.

Amariah was hopeful she could go to Disneyland, but she was not able to see that dream through.

“Thank you for your kindness, compassion and support. We are deeply grateful for your assistance as we lay our beloved Amariah to rest,” the GoFundMe message says.

The fundraiser is looking to raise $15,000.
