Waterloo regional police say a driver is facing a number of penalties after going well above the speed limit in the Township of Wellesley.
According to officers, a driver was caught going 96 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. They have been charged with stunt driving and careless driving.
Their licence is suspended for the next month and the vehicle is impounded for 14 days.
“Road safety starts with you,” police say in a post on X.
This comes days after two young drivers were caught reportedly “racing” through Uptown Waterloo.
Police said, “at the time, Uptown Waterloo has a large volume of pedestrian and vehicular traffic,” but stopped short of specifically mentioning the St. Patrick’s Day student street party area.
Officers pulled both BMWs over and an 18-year-old from Scarborough and a 19-year-old from Grey County were charged with stunt driving and other offences.
