Man arrested after suspect wields hatchet at Fairview Park

One man has been arrested after Waterloo Regional Police say a person was seen “brandishing” a hatchet at Fairview Park in Kitchener.

Officers were called just before 8 p.m. on Saturday to reports of the man carrying the weapon and acting erratically, he was arrested outside of the mall.

A 30-year-old man from Cambridge is facing several charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police say the suspect was also arrested on two outstanding warrants.

No one was physically hurt in the incident.
