All-way intersection recommended to return in West Galt neighbourhood

A local councillor in Cambridge says that the city is looking to bring back an all-way stop in a neighbourhood in West Galt.

Sheri Roberts, the Ward 5 Councillor for Cambridge, said in a social media post that the city and staff are now recommending an all-way stop be installed in the area of Hardcastle Drive and Salisbury Avenue. She said city staff have “reviewed the traffic conditions at the intersection” and put together this recommendation.

The all way stop was originally taken down in 2019, and local advocates have been pushing for it to come back since, including last April.

“You have all these policies but you’re not considering the human factor,” resident Teri Pfohl told the Mike Farwell Show regarding the results of a traffic control and parking assessment. “And where is the safety in the response?”

The report will come to Cambridge council on Feb. 25.
