Municipalities prepare for another round of significant weather

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Another round of significant snowy weather is expected this weekend and municipalities are gearing up for the conditions.

The City of Cambridge says both a significant weather event and a snow event will take effect Saturday, Feb. 15 at 9 a.m.

On-street parking will not be allowed until the snow event is lifted. Any drivers who don’t adhere to the parking ban will have their vehicle ticketed, towed, or both.

“It may take longer than usual to restore roads and sidewalks to regular winter operating conditions,” read a notice from the City of Cambridge. “Please be cautious if travelling during this event.”

A winter weather travel advisory has been issued for Waterloo Region for Saturday due to the potential for blowing snow and even some freezing drizzle in the afternoon.

Forecasters predict we could see anywhere from 20 to 40 cm of accumulation by the end of the weekend. That’s on top of the 20 cm of snow that fell during a mid-week snow storm.
