Kitchener Rangers crush Niagara Ice Dogs 9-1 to secure playoffs spot

To call it a dominant showing would be an understatemnt, as the Kitchener Rangers took down the Niagara Ice Dogs by a score of 9-1 Friday night in St. Catherines, securing their spot in the playoffs this season.
The game had a slow start with only one goal scored by the Rangers, but things would pick up quickly with three additional goals by the East Avenue Blues in the second period.
The third period would see an additional four goals by the Blue Shirts before Niagara would get its one and only goal Matthew Hlacar put one more in the net to set a record high for goals for the Rangers this season.
The season high record wasn’t the only accomplishment from the Rangers on Friday, with multiple records set for individual players.
Jackson Parsons became the first goalie in the CHL this season to get 30 wins and beating his previous career high in wins, and Cameron Mercer got himself a career high three assists in the game.
Cameron Arquette meanwhile recorded his first multi-goal game of his OHL career, and Andrew Vermeulen got to double digit goals.
Up next the Rangers will take on the Oshawa Generals for the last time of the season on Tuesday Feb. 11 at the Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
