Waterloo makes GoFundMe most generous communities list for 2025

An annual report naming the most generous communities in the country has a local angle this year.

Crowd funding website GoFundMe listed Waterloo as the 18th most generous community in Canada for 2025.

Last year, there were 502 fundraisers created in Waterloo, raising a total of $965,000.

The generosity continued across Ontario with 22,880 fundraisers bringing in $60.9 million.

The report also notes that those fundraiser’s were able to raise just over $1,800 dollars in the first month, showing how quickly people responded.

Over it’s 14 years of operation in Canada, GoFundMe has raised over $633 million for 175,000 campaigns.
