Police lay charges after carjacking, attempted robbery in Kitchener
A Kitchener man is facing charges after a carjacking and attempted robbery that occurred about four hours apart.
It started Monday night around 8:45 p.m. as police were called about a knifepoint carjacking in the Weber Street and Fergus Avenue area.
It’s alleged a 36-year-old Cambridge woman was sitting in her parked car when a man hopped into her front passenger seat and threatened her with a knife.

She was able to get out safely and was not hurt, although the suspect drove away in her Honda Civic.
Then around 12:50 a.m. police responded to a gas station in the Bleams Road and Homer Watson Boulevard area of Kitchener for reports of a robbery in-progress.
When officers arrived, they learned a male suspect threatened an employee and demanded money. He left empty-handed though when another customer walked into the gas station.
That suspect drove away in a Honda Civic and investigators determined, it was the same car that was stolen hours earlier.
Officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle and pulled the driver over. An arrest was made and a 26-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with robbery with a weapon and robbery with violence.
