Guelph firefighters make rescue during apartment fire, earn praise from their chief

Firefighters in Guelph saved a person from an apartment, earning a word of praise from their chief on social media.

The Guelph Fire Department sent out a post just before 11:00, Sunday night, about a fire on Westwood Road, near Willow Road and the Hanlon Expressway.

The post said one occupant was rescued and was being assessed by paramedics.

Fire Chief, Brian Arnold, responded to the post saying, “Fantastic work by [Guelph Fire] personnel affecting the rescue. Hoping the resident is okay and all are safe.”

There’s been no update since the fire, and no word yet on the cause of the fire or if it’s considered suspicious.
