Police investigating fatal two-vehicle crash in North Dumfries

Waterloo Regional Police responded to reports of a major crash in North Dumfries on Wednesday afternoon and one driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on Cedar Creek Road near Trussler Road and Northumberland Street, and led to a lengthy closure that persisted into the early evening.

Police confirmed two vehicles were involved in the collision and one of the drivers, a 72-year-old woman from Waterloo Region, sustained fatal injuries.

The other driver, a 39-year-old man from Elgin County, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate the fatal crash and are asking anyone with information, including witnesses with dash cam video, to contact their Traffic Services Unit.
