Jogger in hospital after alleged hit-and-run in North Dumfries

A 22-year-old woman is recovering in hospital after being struck while jogging on Thursday morning in North Dumfries Township – as police now seek the driver that allegedly hit her.

It was around 6:10 a.m. on Thursday when emergency crews responded to the area of Wrigley Road near Dumfries Road.

Police say that 22-year-old was heading east on the east side of Wrigley Road when she was struck from behind by an eastbound vehicle.

That involved vehicle is said to have been a dark-coloured SUV, which failed to remain at the scene.

The 22-year-old was taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing – anyone with information or dash-cam footage is asked to contact police.
