Chicopee Ski Hill opens for 2025 season

After experiencing the toughest season last year since joining the resort, CEO of Chicopee Ski Hill, Bill Creighton, said he was confident the 2025 season would be treated well with lots of snow.

As the resort opens its gates Dec. 27, 19 days earlier than last year, it seems Creighton’s suspicions may become a reality.

Chicopee Ski Hill kicked off its 90th season at 9 a.m. Thursday morning with seven trails and two lifts in operation. The local resort is not only inching closer to a century in operation, it is preparing construction on half of the hill that will unveil six new runs and 10 additional metres of elevation.

“We’re raising the elevation almost 10 metres on the Fairway side, which is the maximum elevation we can go to because we’re in the flight path zone of the airport,” Creighton told CityNews back in April. He cited growing capacity and sold-out programs for the resort’s $8 million expansion.

The hills currently have an average base of 37 cm and the surface is machine groomed powder. Weather over the weekend is expected to become milder with some rainfall which could impact the resort. Status of all runs can be found on the Chicopee website.
