Man arrested following alleged assault, abduction of woman in Mississauga

A man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and forcing a woman into a vehicle in Mississauga, Peel Regional Police said.

Authorities received a report of an altercation between two people on Tuesday at around 11:45 a.m. in the Mississauga Road and Meadowvale Boulevard area.

During the incident, the man was allegedly seen striking the woman and forcing her into a vehicle before leaving the area.

Peel Regional Police attempted to stop the vehicle, described as a black 2006 Acura MDX SUV with Ontario licence plate DARP182. The driver did not stop and managed to evade officers.

The man was identified as 48-year-old Bryan Devereaux of Kitchener. A Peel Regional Police spokesperson said Devereaux was arrested in another jurisdiction, and the woman was located and has been accounted for.

The investigation is ongoing.
