Three crashes involving the LRT in just over 24 hours

There’s been three collisions involving the LRT in just over 24 hours.

The most recent crash was reported Tuesday around 3 p.m. on Caroline Street in Waterloo. Police said no one was injured and their investigation is ongoing.

It resulted in a brief ION service disruption between the Waterloo Public Square and Grand River Hospital stations, although train service started to return to its regular schedule about an hour later.

It was the second ION-related collision to occur on Tuesday as another one happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. in the King Street and Agnes Street area of Kitchener.

Police said no one was hurt in that incident and a driver was charged with making an unsafe turn.

There was also a collision between the LRT and a vehicle on Monday around 10 a.m. in the Borden Avenue and Courtland Avenue area of Kitchener, which sent one person to hospital for assessment.
