Waterloo Region digging out with more snow on the way
A blast of winter weather hit Waterloo Region Sunday, with some areas recording double-digit snowfall amounts.
By 9 p.m. Sunday, snow accumulation amounts were up to 14 cm in the Stanley Park neighbourhood of Kitchener. Other areas saw just a light dusting of snow.
Regardless of how much snow was dumped on the region, it was treacherous enough Monday morning for Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region to cancel all transportation for both the Waterloo Region District School Board and Waterloo Catholic School Board.

Schools remained open.
Waterloo Regional Police said there were 51 reported collisions between 1:05 p.m. on Sunday and 1:05 p.m. on Monday, although it wasn’t clear how many of the crashes were weather-related.
Keep in mind that the snow squalls aren’t done with Waterloo Region yet. 570 NewsRadio Meteorologist Jill Taylor expects more snow to fall Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
By the end of the week, some of people could be digging out another 15 cm of snow.
And that snow comes with colder temperatures, dipping down to -10 C by Friday morning.
