Waterloo Regional Police investigate fatal shooting in Kitchener

One man is dead after a shooting at a tiny shelter site in Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police (WRPS) were reportedly called to A Better Tent City in Kitchener on 49 Ardelt Ave. on Saturday afternoon.

Police say at approximately 3:55 p.m., they responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Ottawa Street South and Homer Watson Boulevard. Officers arrived at the scene to find the victim, a 39-year-old man with serious gunshot wounds.

He was taken to an out of region hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

WRPS is looking for surveillance or dash cam footage of the areas as well as Courtland Avenue East and Block Line Road between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The suspect is described as being male wearing a black coat, light-coloured pants and black shoes.
