Boy approached twice by man in a car: Guelph Police investigating

It’s a lesson for parents to make-sure their kids are well acquainted with “Stranger Danger”.

Guelph police are investigating after a boy was approached twice by a man in a vehicle, offering him candy and a ride.

According to police, it happened Nov. 26 in the area of Willow Rd. and Elmira Rd. N in Guelph’s west end around 4 p.m.

The boy’s father contacted police and said the 12-year-old was walking home from school when a vehicle traveling the other direction slowed down while the driver asked the boy if he wanted candy. He also said he knew the boys father.

The boy refused the offer and kept walking but the car made a U-turn and followed him before the driver asked again if he wanted candy, shaking a jar of candy at the same time.

The boy ignored the request and kept walking.

The driver is described as having brown skin, wearing a black sweater. He was driving a white Hyundai Elantra, believed to be a 2017 model.

The boy also said there was a small child in the back seat.
