Shelter in place advisories lifted in Kitchener
Waterloo Regional Police were on scene Tuesday in the Fourth Avenue and Wilson Avenue area of Kitchener, prompting a nearby school and community centre to shelter in place. UPDATE:
A police spokesperson confirmed officers were in the area negotiating with a barricaded person.
As a result, Wilson Avenue Public School and Kingsdale Community Centre were both directed to shelter in place as a safety precaution.
The shelter in place advisories were lifted around 3 p.m.
Police said there were no public safety concerns.
The shelter in place at Wilson Avenue Public School and Kingsdale Community Centre has been lifted.
An increased police presence may still be in the area.
There are no public safety concerns.
