Waterloo Regional Police were on scene Tuesday in the Fourth Avenue and Wilson Avenue area of Kitchener, prompting a nearby school and community centre to shelter in place.
A police spokesperson confirmed officers were in the area negotiating with a barricaded person.
As a result, Wilson Avenue Public School and Kingsdale Community Centre were both directed to shelter in place as a safety precaution.
The shelter in place advisories were lifted around 3 p.m.
Police said there were no public safety concerns.
