Public meeting looks for input on the future of water in the region

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The future of water in Waterloo Region will be the focus of an upcoming public meeting.

The Region of Waterloo is looking for input as it updates the Water Supply Strategy through to 2051. The goal is to develop both short and long-term recommendations for the Region of Waterloo’s Integrated Urban System.

According to the municipality, the system includes more than 80 groundwater wells, with a limited supply of drinking water coming from the Grand River.

At the public meeting, regional staff will share background information on the project. They’ll consider any feedback, alongside technical studies and advice from experts.

The meeting is happening over Zoom on Dec. 4, beginning at 7 p.m.
