A Kitchener man is now facing charges after making a series of threatening calls to Waterloo Regional Police’s emergency line on Wednesday.
Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 8:40 p.m., it’s alleged that man made eight calls to the service’s communications centre – not to report an emergency, but to threaten and swear at communicators on the other side of the line.
Officers made their way to the man’s house, placing him under arrest.
The 49-year-old now faces charges of public mischief and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
The incident has also prompted police to issue a reminder to residents to only make calls to 9-1-1 in the case of an immediate risk to the safety of people or property.
