Police release photos in Waterloo sexual assault investigation

Waterloo Regional Police have released photos of a person they want to identify in connection with a pair of sexual assaults in Waterloo.
The first incident took place early in the morning of Sat. Nov. 2 at approximately 2 a.m. in a residential building near the area of Sunview Street and University Avenue West.
According to police, the victim, an adult female, noticed she was being followed by an unknown male and ran into a building, where she was allegedly chased by the man and sexually assaulted.
The victim was able to break free from the man who then fled. Police reported no physical injuries sustained by the victim from the incident.
Not long after, a second assault occurred just after 2:30 a.m. involving another female victim in the area of King Street North and Ezra Street.
The victim was also able to get away and the suspect was last seen walking towards the downtown area of Waterloo.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5’5′ with a medium build, an accent and approximately 20 to 40 years old.
An investigation is on going by Waterloo Region Police Services’ Special Victims Unit, and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777, extension 8413, or to leave an anonymous tip at Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
