Special weather statement for strong winds issued for Waterloo Region

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for strong winds.

The weather authority notes gusty winds near 70 km/h are expected late Thursday afternoon, through the evening and possibly into the overnight hours.

It’s noted gusts could result in broken tree branches and local power outages.

Wind gusts are expected to diminish by Friday morning.
