Kitchener mother charged in ‘violent theft,’ after her son was already charged

After Guelph Police had already charged a Cambridge teenager in the case of a violent theft, now the boy’s mother, from Kitchener, is also charged.

Back on the afternoon of September 22, officers responded to the scene at a store on Stone Road West.

Staff told police a woman with three children with her, between the ages of 10 and 15 years old, was making her way around the store, loading about $1,000 worth of products into her cart.

Police say when she tried to leave the store with the cart through a side exit without paying, two employees tried to stop her, and a fight broke out.

One employee was assaulted, causing injuries to her neck and arms, officials noted.

Police say the suspects got away with $500 worth of items.

A 15-year-old from Cambridge was arrested and charged this month with assault, and theft under $5,000.
