Police lay charges following two-vehicle collision in Cambridge

Regional police have laid charges after a two-vehicle crash in Cambridge.

The incident happened just before 11 a.m. Tuesday morning in the area of Dundas Street South and Branchton Road.

According to police a Lexus was attempting to make a left-turn onto Dundas Street South from Branchton Road. When they turned, they struck a Kia SUV.

The Kia then struck a hydro pole and caught fire.

The driver of the Lexus has been identified as an 81-year-old woman from Hamilton. She was transported to a local hospital with minor physical injuries.

The driver of the Kia was not hurt.

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday the intersection of Dundas Street South and Branchton Road was closed as hydro repairs were made.

The 81-year-old was charged with failing to yield to traffic under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
