Butter continues to be at the top of the grocery list for some thieves in Guelph.

Last week two more large-scale butter thefts were reported from different north-end grocery stores in the city. According to Guelph Police, there have been at least seven large-scale butter thefts in the city in the last 10 months.

On Oct. 12 around 7:45 p.m. two males entered a business at separate times on Speedvale Avenue East. They put a number of items inside a cart, including three cases of butter that have a value of $936. They left out of the receiving door.

The suspects are described by police as brown-skinned males, about 40 years old with medium builds. One was wearing a dark sleeveless vest with a blue and white baseball cap. The other was seen wearing a dark winter coat and a red baseball cap. The vehicle they were seen leaving in was a white four-door sedan.

Another butter theft took place four days later at a business on Eramosa Road. Two males separately entered the business before meeting up inside. In a cart, they had four cases of butter with a value of $958 then left out the emergency exit of that location.

In that incident, police are describing both as having brown skin. One wore a tan jacket, black pants and a black winter hat. The other was seen wearing a black jacket, black pants and a black baseball cap.

Anyone with information on the butter bandits is asked to call Guelph Police or leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers.
