A homemade imitation explosive device, found in New Hamburg over the long weekend, has been determined to not be dangerous, and only put together to “cause concern.”
That’s according to Waterloo Regional Police, who are still investigating after the device was found near the expressway in New Hamburg Sunday afternoon.
They got the call around 1:30 p.m., about the suspicious device near a path, under the Nith River Bridge on Highway 7/8.
A release from police reads, “Members of the Special Response Unit safely removed the device and determined it was meant to cause concern only.”
Investigators are still trying to find whoever put it there.
The case is ongoing.
