Oktoberfest continues in Waterloo Region, cool temperatures and rain in the forecast

We’re heading into another week of Bavarian fun around Waterloo Region.

The Oktoberfest events kick off on Wednesday in Cambridge with an Oktoberfest lunch at City Hall, with sauerkraut, sausages, and Bavarian music on the menu.

Willkommen Platz bursts into life on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the weekend you’ve all been waiting for with the biergarten, German food vendors, and a Bavarian village throughout downtown Kitchener.

Over at Bingemans Kool Haus, Oktoberfest favourites ‘Dorfrocker’ will grace the stage on Friday and Saturday along with special guests the ‘Golden Keys’.

On Monday, the Thanksgiving Day Parade rolls through Waterloo and Kitchener. This year, you’ll be getting an extra hour of sleep as the floats take off from Weber St. and Fredrick St. at 9:30 a.m. before travelling up Weber St. before arriving at Bridgeport St. near noon.

The WunderWagen is still rolling around the region serving Oktoberfest sounds near your favourite local spots.

570 Meteorologist Jill Taylor says the weather for this weekend’s festivities look great, except for some rain on Sunday, but conditions could make for a chilly parade on Oct. 14.

“Sunday looks like the only day that we may have some showers, Saturday looks absolutely gorgeous, and then cooler on Monday with a high of only 10 degrees,” said Taylor.

Taylor added that there is rain in the forecast this week as well, with wet weather on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
