Duel of the goalies: Flint takes 2-1 overtime win over Kitchener

It was a real battle of the goalies in last night’s game between the Kitchener Rangers and the visiting Flint Firebirds, ending in the Rangers falling in overtime, 2-1.

The Firebirds opened up the scoring in the first period with a goal from Evan Konyen, then it was followed by a blank second period.

The Rangers were able to even up the fight early in the third thanks to a well timed shot from Adrian Misaljevic, keeping the game even 1-1, forcing overtime.

There was plenty of tension throughout the game, but the nerves peaked in the Aud in overtime. Flint came out with the win thanks to Firebirds Captain Connor Clattenburg, scoring his second goal of the season.

By the end of the game, Blueshirts goalie, Jackson Parsons, stopped 27 of 29 shots during his third straight game. This compared to Flint’s Nathan Day who stopped 32 of 33.

The Rangers now get ready as they prepare to travel to Owen Sound to battle the Attack tonight, before heading back home to take on the Guelph Storm on Sunday.
