5-year-old sent to hospital after being struck by vehicle in Hespeler

A small boy suffered serious injuries in a pedestrian collision in Cambridge, in the middle of the day.

Waterloo Regional Police say it happened around 12:45 p.m. Sunday, on Queen Street East near Flynn Avenue in Hespeler.

Police say the 5-year-old was hit by a Toyota being driven by a 64-year-old man from Cambridge.

The boy was taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was not hurt.

About four hours after the collision, police posted on social media that the portion of Queen that was closed for the investigation was open again.

There is no word yet on possible charges.

For now, the investigation continues.
